Sexually transmitteD and blood borne infections
Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection is an umbrella term that includes sexually transmitted diseases, infections, and blood-borne infections, such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C Virus
CHLAMYDIA - is a common sexually transmitted disease. It is caused by a bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. It can infect all people. Chlamydia can affect the cervix, rectum, urethra, or throat.
SCABIES - is not an infection, but an infestation. Tiny mites called Sarcoptes scabiei live in the outer layers of the human skin. It is a highly contagious skin disease characterized by extreme and severe itchiness and rash.
GONORRHOEA - Is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Many people have no symptoms. People may have burning sensation during urination, discharge from the penis or vagina, testicular pain, vaginal bleeding between periods, pelvic pain. If untreated, it can spread to joints or heart valves.
HEPATITIS B - is a potentially life-threatening liver infection caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is a major global health problem. It can cause chronic infection and puts people at high risk of death from cirrhosis and liver cancer.
GENITAL HERPES - the Herpes Simplex Virus infection is transmitted by direct person-to-person contact. Genital herpes is acquired through sexual contact of any type with the genital areas. Genital herpes also can be caused by mouth-to-genital contact with a person who has cold sores/herpes infection of the mouth.
CRAB LICE - the crab louse or pubic louse (Pthirus pubis) is an insect that is an obligate ectoparasite of humans, feeding exclusively on blood. The crab louse usually is found in the person's pubic hair. Although the louse cannot jump, it can also live in other areas of the body that are covered with coarse hair, such as the eye lashes.
SYPHILIS - is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum subspecies palladium. The signs and symptoms of syphilis vary depending in which of the four stages it presents: primary; secondary, latent, tertiary.
VAGINITIS - is an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge, itching and pain. The cause is usually a change in the normal balance of the vaginal bacteria or an infection. Reduced estrogen levels after menopause and some skin disorders can also cause vaginitis.
